Beauty of 'Routine'

I was commuting in my morning bus ride to work when I saw the bars on the window. And I thought, someone must have needed to attach these screws by hand. And then I saw the whole bus! Someone must have needed all day to do all these attachments. After all not everything can be done by machines. And then it occurred to me that someone must be doing this all day, everyday as a part of their job.

I looked out of the window. I saw houses being built. A little later when we left the city I saw fields. Inter city taxis and trucks on the road. Made me think again. Thats what most of the adults do. They do the same thing everyday, every week, every month, every year. To a mason it doesn't matter how beautiful the house they built is, they're not attached, they build houses everyday. A farmer grows the same crop year after year. Taxi drivers drive the same route everyday. Heck I teach the same subject every year too.

Interestingly we wake up, eat, work and sleep everyday. Usually in the same place.

And yet people yearn for change. Something different. Cause routine bores them. There's a need to eat out and go on a holiday every once in a while. They get lost in the world of social media, movies and internet. Because it's exciting. I feel like slowly we have come to hate the routine and love the excitement. It is only natural. A person inclines to wherever they feel good. The only problem is, they get so inclined to the excitement that they start hating the mundane life. And then stuff goes downhill.

You know why? We are peaceful beings. No matter how exciting one's life might be, they need to go back to the simple routine. It's not just physiologically difficult to live an ever excited life but also against human nature. We might party all night, but we need peace the next morning. One can't listen to a loud concert 24*7. One can't remain angry all day, nor run all day just like one cannot remain enthusiastically happy every minute. Wars can't be faught day and night, cause in the end everyone yearns for peace. And believe it or not everyone yearns for the mundane routine. Waking up at home, same place everyday, eating the food you've always had for years, meeting the same bunch of people, and ending the day feeling content.

Excitement every once in a while is good, but it seems like everyone feels like they are supposed to reach for the stars and be the best somehow or be loved endlessly or achieve something great in life. It is believed to be kind of sad if a person has no excitement in their life.

"It's no bad thing to celebrate a simple life" - J.R.R. Tolkien.

Honestly for me, it's such a gold to carry.

And I have never been healthier if not happier. We are one with nature. We are a part of nature after all. And nature has a rhythm, a routine. Whether it’s the revolutions or the rotations of the planet, the seasons or our own circadian rhythm. We were meant to live peacefully and in a rhythmic routine. It’s actually beautiful.

The way we feel mesmerised by the sunrises and sunsets, we are supposed to see them. Not spend time stuck indoors while that happens. We’re meant to eat the food of the season, try it and see what wonders it does to your gut and overall health. We need to spend time alone with nature, try it and see how it affects all your interactions. We need to simply walk. Because being able to do the same things everyday is a privilege denied to many.

With great power comes great responsibility

The title must have reminded you of this guy...

Well thanks to some encouragement from a friend and inspiration from mom I am back at writing this blog.

The thing is I keep learning so many things so often in life, might as well share it.

Alright back to the topic.

'With great power comes great responsibility'

You know we might feel like we, normal human beings are powerless. But that's not true. I just realized we don't need to be bitten by radioactive spiders to gain super powers. Some of us have some powers from birth and the most of them we acquire as we grow into better people.

Let me give you examples of those powers. Starting with the god gifted talents one might have - be it intelligence, aptitude for music, dance, art, writing, public speaking or for sports. There are other powers too -  like the power to face, power to withdraw, to tolerate, to cooperate, to adjust, to discern the right from wrong. The first list some of us are born with, but the latter every one can develop.

I always thought that the talents a person has are for his/her own happiness, for their own benefit. But no matter what one does, be it making a song or painting a masterpiece, it always feels incomplete if there's no one to see it. As a matter of fact, creators have this urge to showcase their creations to the public. Only when someone sees it and praises it, it feels well done. One is happy. If others don't like it the creator isn't happy. As a matter of fact the brilliant artist Vincent Van Gogh killed himself out of depression despite the infamous brilliant paintings he made.

This implies the talents we have are not for ourselves?

    Perhaps..... that's right.

Maybe the powers we have are meant to be used for others.

I recently realized the importance of the powers and talents. For instance I can never get over the huge effect stories have on our lives. The Mahabharata and the Ramayana are the most popular stories in India. And every person in India somehow knows whats right and whats wrong because of them. They are epic stories of goodness winning over evil. We know its right to take care of our elders and family, that brothers are supposed to have each others backs like Rama and Laxman. We also know that ego, greed and desire are bad cause we know Ravan and Duryodhan. How impactful!

The movies too are very powerful tools, 3 idiots changed the way we thought about studies and the rat race. Tare Zameen Par gave an idea about dyslexia, Swades inspired us to love our roots and our motherland. But sadly they do have a negative effect too.

I think same goes for any other talent one may have. A small IG reel showing pani puri oh so artistically might make ones mouth water. And another one showing a person shooting an animal mercilessly for fun might inspire the same.

Coming back to the point,

Talents and powers have been given to you not for yourself but they are meant for others.

If you can create something create something that inspires good. Because what's the point of being an athlete if you can't help anyone with that strength of yours. Or whats the point of that beautiful sketch/song/intelligence if it doesn't inspire anyone. You know the rest right?  So please remember this, if you have something others don't, it is for them and not yourself. If you can do something that others can and still bad things happen, then that's on you. Haha that's another spidey dialogue.

After all with great power comes great responsibility.

Its a matter of choice..or is it?

Choices are VERY important you know?...that's everybody's opinion...they define you...true!

It's important to have a good choice of clothes..it completely changes the way you look ya know?
Choose your career wisely!...it secures your future!..
Also having a good choice of everything (furniture, colors, food, gadgets, shoes, bag, college, job, city, friends, etc and so much more!)  makes one's life better.
Well...some might also say.. we don't have that liberty to choose such things..we're not that lucky..:(

Surprisingly, the matter of fact is that we ALL don't get to make the "real" choices!..
Yup, that's right..
Did we get a choice of parents?..family?..skin color?.. looks?..country?..mother tongue?..birthplace? religion?..family background( rich or poor)?..height?..weight?..nah..not one bit..
We don't even get to choose any talents..if we did..everyone would've been a rock star!..haha..or maybe not..then there'd be no audience!
Also, we don't get to choose friends!..one might be thinking about choosing who to talk to in a new place when someone might just click out of nowhere and end up being your bff :)
Most annoying..we never get to choose how people behave..haha..world would have been a much better place if we did! Don't you think? :p
And there are a whole lot of things we don't get to choose than I can count.. literally..
So...why don't we get to choose such vital things in life!.... You know why??

Cause it doesn't matter...

It doesn't matter if you're white, colored, coming from any corner of the world, chubby, skinny, pimpled, wrinkled, tall, tiny, blonde or brunette.
It also doesn't matter if your friends and family are classic and sophisticated or  downright crazy! That's just who the are..and it's totally cool..:)
It does't matter if you've got a great job, huge house, cool car, life all set or if you're still unemployed!
 So what really matters?

Well if you ask me..we've got only two choices in life..yup!...just two..

The good and the bad...heard of that didn't ya?

Yup i'm talking about these two..

 Well kind of..:p..

Waking up late in the morning..eventually you're gonna be late for everything..so you got two choices..panic and act grumpy..or just go with it...

Not being rude to a really annoying person..helping someone when you're at your limit..not taking someone's harsh words to heart..

Just like that it's always tougher but better to choose the good...or you'll end up with all your time getting spent in negativity..

After all...the choice is yours..:)

Happiness is free!

Once upon a time.....

there was a time when I thought that if  I'd win in everything studies, sports, music, life.. I'll be happy...fail

if I'd be able to do everything that I'm supposed to do or want to do during the entire day.. I'll be happy...fail

if someone would recognize the capabilities in me or even praise me for a day..I'll be happy..fail

if I could stop my parents from getting mad at me when I do wrong (haha don't even think about it..not gonna happen ;))..I'll be happy..fail

if I get a good job, a big home, a car, a cool phone etc...I'll be happy..fail again

or if I could make someones day better ...I'll be happy?..for a while yea..but then..fail

Apparently we might be searching at the wrong places and things and people..happiness hides in the most unexpected corners!

A chat with your group on your smartphone may not make you as happy as a little evening spent with your grandparents who are free all day for you..for free :)
A long drive in a fancy car might not be as fun as this...which is for free too

and sometimes being the most productive person and completing all your tasks on time may not make you as happy as this..haha

or a big house in a big old city might not make you as happy as this..
for more happy things that are available for free check out https://www.facebook.com/itsthehappypage/photos_stream

So my point here is that its all in our heads!

Yeah...its a matter of choice whether we incline our happiness on the things we wanna see...or on the things we don't usually see but are always there..always have been :)

That's why they say..happiness cant be bought..its priceless!

It's never enough!

HAPPY the man whose wish and care
A few paternal acres bound,
Content to breathe his native air
         In his own ground.

Whose herds with milk, whose fields with bread,
Whose flocks supply him with attire;
Whose trees in summer yield him shade,
         In winter fire.

Blest who can unconcern'dly find
Hours, days, and years slide soft away
In health of body, peace of mind,
         Quiet by day,

Sound sleep by night; study and ease
Together mixt, sweet recreation,
And innocence, which most does please
         With meditation.

Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
 Tell where I lie.

Don't worry!...I'm no big fan of poetry :)..but this one "Quiet life" by A. Pope is me favorite...well...cause this kind of life is what I always wanted!

Me being a nature lover..ahh..how cool it'd be to wake up and see the sun rising at the horizon! But...I wake up to this

Well...not so bad is it?...well you'll get to see squirrels playing and colorful birds singing to you every morning too..:)

But...oh well...is it ever enough?...nah...its like that Hindi advertisement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4haEYOZ9dTE ..;)

Like always...its never enough!

But these days this "never enough" has reached a whole new level!...I'll tell you how..
Nah...I'm not gonna brag about a kid's misery these days..how it's "never enough" to score above 90% if you don't rank first...the rat race...oh! and if you never win an award in your life then you're not so cool...who cares about the distinguishing childlike curiosity right?
A poor person has "never enough" to support his/her family..a middle class man too has "never enough" to buy a car or a bigger house..a higher middle class person has "never enough" to travel abroad like others..and you might think...that for a rich man "never enough" doesn't exist!  Well...you're wrong..
There's another trait of this virus..the "relationship" trait..there's  always someone that no matter what you do is "never enough" for them or vice versa!.. someone that you always wish behaved right..or someone who hurts you..
And do you know the most dangerous trait?...it's the "self esteem" trait...its where you don't like the way you look..or feel like its "never enough" in whatever you do..feel guilty all the time or low...cause you could've done better...man how much that hurts..
Torture isn't it? Yep..that's what I thought too..and decided to cure myself..how many more years am I gonna spend in the "never enough" syndrome?..not one!...and guess what?
it feels great! :)

So far so good ;)

No one tells us!

Sometimes it feels like everyone around you is telling you to do something...especially if you live with your parents (and grandparents!) and if you are a student :p

Just like yesterday when my mom told me to shut down the laptop and go to bed...yea I'm 23 and I still get told..life..

Honestly i don't really mind that..but why don't they tell us the real fun stuff!

Fun stuff!????...is there really any?...well breaking news!....there totally is!

Let me tell you from the start...when we are 3 or something we get sent to school...and to do what?...to sit and write A B C D again and again and again...they tell us to "learn properly"...but no one tells us that we'd be able to talk to almost anyone around the world, read all the labels and hoardings, read comics, use the computer, text or chat with someone, and most importantly watch Hollywood movies!!..ha ha
Next, in school days they tell us to "read" and "do your homework"...but no one said that if we read our text books we'll get to know how our world looks like from far away..who are Mr. Sun and Mr. Moon really..or what we are made of..or about how there were so many awesome wars and stories of people who lived long long ago.. and about how almost everything around us works..:)
Coming to college years..we're told that "you'll get a good job if you go to college"...but why did no one ever say that you get to learn how magic works in college!...no kidding!!...be it any field they do teach magic in there! :)
...in engineering they teach about the magic of the machine world, or how our pics and data transfer across the globe through thin air!, and so much more..in pharmacy they teach about the magic of little molecules  curing deadly diseases...in management they teach about how simple planning can make everything go right!
And its not only about studies...ha ha..its about everyday stuff too..

We young people might be having the time of our lives watching movies or surfing about cool stuff on the internet...when our parents tell us to "get out of the virtual world" and live in the real world...but they never tell us about how our own life's movies are way way more interesting..and how each and every person is living in his/her own movie!...we just don't see :/

Your mom being in a bad mood and telling you to do everything that you do..ha ha..but she wont tell you that if you do the chores (that you already do ;)) for her she'll not only get back in a good mood, but shower you with love and hugs and kisses you can't even handle! (but you do love them  :p)

Similarly, waking early..eating right..and behaving politely have their own wonders..ha ha you'll never know till you try :)

So...I was wondering today.. why don't they tell us the fun stuff?..they forget telling us?....or don't they know themselves?!

Everyone loves movies, don't they?!

Well our lives are more or less like movies..not old black and white ones..nor any 1080p HD type..nor 3D or 4D.......they're more like 6D! (i'm talking about our 6 senses here:p)

A movie that's yeeeeeeeaaaaaaarrrrssss long..literally! Man...that'd be real boring......

Tell you what!...it's not!...haha...believe me :)

So..in this blog I officially invite you to have a sneak peek at mine.
